Welcome to Smithton High School’s Counseling Page!
My name is Amber Whitaker. I am the counselor for grades 7-12. This is my first year as a School Counselor, and I am beyond excited to be here! I knew from the day I interviewed that Smithton was the place I wanted to start my career, and my love for this place has only grown in the past three months. I am humbled by how welcoming this community has been to me. The faculty, students and families at Smithton have truly blown me away.
I grew up on a small farm in Macon, MO. My parents instilled a love of education in all five of their children from a young age. I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Truman State University in 2012. In 2015, I received my Masters of Education in Counseling from Stephens College. I spent the past couple years living in Columbia, MO and working at the Center of Responsive Education.
I chose to be a counselor so I can assist in the development of young people’s lives. My passion is helping others find their passion. As your counselor, I hope to help you grow in areas of career, academic and personal/social development. I want to celebrate your successes with you, and am very much looking forward to seeing what this year has in store!
I am here to help in whatever way I can. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me 660-343-5318 ext 246 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
